[A] tattoo on Page’s left shoulder (pictured below) suggests he was a committed devotee of white-power ideology. The tattoo consists of a large “14” in Gothic lettering superimposed on a black cross in a circle. The cross, known elsewhere as “Odin’s Cross,” is “one of the most popular symbols for neo-Nazis and white supremacists,” according to the Anti-Defamation League. It’s also used as a logo by Stormfront.org, one of the world’s most-visited racist web forums.

The Wisconsin temple shooter’s racist tattoos, deciphered.

I’m reblogging this not because I want to facilitate rubbernecking at a scumbag over remembering and respecting the victims, but because we don’t talk about the white supremacist/neo-Nazi problem at all in this country.  And we need to talk about the fact that these people thrive in some parts of this country, and they’re actively dangerous, and this is unacceptable.

I’ve seen a few documentaries about, or that at least mention, it. Most from Current.com, though I’m afraid I can’t remember their names very well. I think one might’ve been just called ‘Islamophobia’? But yeah, most times I’ve ever heard neo-Nazism/white supremacy/etc. mentioned, it’s talked about like something that’s only in the past, or in other parts of the world, hardly ever about here-and-now.
